17 Year-Old Former Arlington High Student Charged with Murdering Newborn Son in Carrollton, Texas

Carrollton, Texas - Former Arlington High School student Caleb Blake Brown (17) has been arrested and charged with murdering his newborn son.

According to Carrollton Police, Brown was angry at the mother for keeping the baby instead of getting an abortion.

Brown and the baby’s mother, also 17, took their three-week-old son to the emergency room at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano on Aug. 9. During the visit, the mother noticed her son had become pale and had significant bruising around his abdomen.

The baby was transferred to Children’s Medical Center Dallas where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy later revealed that at a mere 24 days old, Emerson had multiple displaced ribs and a lacerated liver.

During the investigation, police found evidence that Brown was upset with the child’s mother for keeping the baby and was worried about having to pay child support.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Brown said that while he was briefly alone with the baby on Aug. 9, he squeezed him and repeatedly threw him into the air, eventually hitting the ceiling fan.

Brown is currently being held in the Denton County Jail. His bond has been set $2 million.
