50 Year-Old Arlington Woman Arrested, Charged After 1 Killed, 2 Injured in Drunk Driving Crash


Arlington, Texas - Arlington Police Department arrested 50 year-old Bernida Collins after a drunk driving crash left a rideshare passenger dead on early Sunday morning, November 7.


Around 2:30 am, Arlington Police Department responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of N Collins Street and the westbound I-30 service road.


Police concluded that Ms. Collins ran a red light and struck a Honda HRV that was traveling through the intersection, injuring the two backseat passengers and driver. The HRV was providing a rideshare service at the time.

Two backseat passengers in the HRV were transported to the hospital with very serious injuries. One of them, a 37-year-old male, was later pronounced deceased by medical staff. The driver of the HRV suffered minor injuries.

Ms. Collins, who police believe was intoxicated based on evidence, was also transported to the hospital. She will be charged with one count of Intoxication Manslaughter and one count of Intoxication Assault with a Vehicle Causing Serious Bodily Injury.
