Arlington High School Student Attacks English Teacher During Class, Charged with Assault
Arlington, Texas - Arlington High School student Connor Hughes, 17, was arrested on school property Tuesday morning after he reportedly attacked his teacher.
The incident occurred around 11:45 a.m. 58 year-old ninth grade English teacher Chris Pate sustained visible bodily injury from the assault, according to the police report by Arlington PD.
Pate, a teacher for more than three decades, was “intentionally and knowingly punched and kicked” multiple times by the student, for reasons unknown at the moment.
Hughes has been arrested and charged with assaulting a public servant, which is a felony charge. According to Arlington PD Sgt. Chris Moore, the student’s bond was set at $7,500 and he was released on bail from the Arlington City Jail on Wednesday.
Police have not released any further details about the investigation or said what happened in the moments before the alleged assault took place. The district has not yet released a statement about the incident.
