Arlington Hospital’s Smallest Baby Ever Sent Home After Four Months in Critical Care

Arlington, Texas - Local hospital Medical City Arlington just sent its smallest infant ever home for the holidays after she spent 116 days (four months) in critical care.

Born at 23 weeks and only 450 grams – less than a pound and tinier than a hand – the baby, named Paris Nguyen, was the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit’s (NICU) smallest patient to date. According to doctors, the infant was an extremely premature baby with very low odds of survival.

“They say she’s a miracle, but without them, the miracle wouldn’t happen” - Duc Nguyen, father

Parents Duc Nguyen and Uyen Lam carried their daughter outside the hospital for the first time ever, thrilled to have her home for the holidays. The couple credits the compassionate care team at MCA for giving their daughter a fighting chance.

Medical City Arlington has a Level III NICU with a specialized team of physicians, nurses and other clinicians to provide advanced care to infants born prematurely or critically ill.
