Arlington Man Having Mental Health Episode Taken into Custody Following Hours-Long Standoff

Arlington, Texas - Arlington Police took a man having a mental health crisis into custody after an hours-long standoff.
The incident occurred just before 10:30 a.m., at a home in Viridian, a private, master-planned community in North Arlington.
According to police, the man fired a gun at an unoccupied car outside and then barricaded himself inside the home.
Officers set up a perimeter around the house and spent several hours trying to communicate with the suspect. SWAT was eventually called to assist with the situation.
After about five hours, the man eventually got out and was taken into custody. Police say the man was taken to a mental health center at John Peter Smith (JPS) Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas.
