Arlington, Texas - 25 year-old Arlington man, Tyler Hampton, was arrested and charged with Intoxicated Assault after a drunk driving accident left 1 deceased and 3 seriously injured.

The two-way vehicle crash occurred Tuesday, December 21 around 8:24 p.m. on Interstate 20. Police determined that Hampton, who was driving a 2018 Mazda MX5, made an unsafe lane change across all lanes of traffic, causing the MX5 to strike a 2010 Toyota Tundra. The impact resulted in the Tundra striking a metal guardrail and going off the roadway, where it landed on its side.

A total of four people were inside the Tundra, a 26-year-old man, a 22-year-old woman, a 4-year-old girl, and a 2-year-old girl. Three of the four persons inside the truck sustained serious bodily injury, and were rushed to local hospitals.

Hampton did not suffer any visible injuries. After an investigation at the scene, Hampton was arrested on three counts of Intoxication Assault.

The 2-year old died from her injuries two days later, Thursday, December 23. As a result, Arlington Police Department is currently working to update the charges against Hampton to include one count of Intoxication Manslaughter.

He is currently being held at the Arlington City Jail.
